TITLE: Buildings & Grounds/Custodian (Part-Time 18hrs/week)

REPORTS TO: Collaborative B&G Manager
JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for the appearance, cleanliness and maintenance of the buildings and grounds at St. Elizabeth of Hungary (Acton) and St. Isidore (Stow).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs including but not limited to: masonry, electricalsystems, plumbing, minor carpentry, replacing air filters, clean kitchen range hood, grease traps, adjust clocks and setback timers, repairs leaky faucets and fixtures, small electric repairs, repair light fixtures/replace light bulbs, small painting jobs, and seasonal equipment maintenance.
Prepare/clean church halls and other rooms for services and events including but not limited to:
Cleaning and maintaining halls before and after events.
Gathering and emptying trash.
Cleaning bathrooms.
Washing the floor with automatic washing machine, vacuum the rugs, and wash the
tables (usually during the Sept – May timeframe)
Assisting with building security, locking, and unlocking church, halls, offices etc.
Seasonal Work. Complete monthly seasonal work at both churches.
Supply inventory. Material and supplies need to be ordered on a monthly basis or when needed. Inventory supplies every month.
Be present when contractors are on the property for repairs and for yearly inspections.
Active member of the Buildings and Grounds committees at both churches. These committees meet once a month.
Other duties may be assigned.
This position may require occasional weekend work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of basic HVAC and mechanical functions of a large non-residential building.
Basic carpentry skills and painting.
Prior experience in building maintenance, preferably in a church or similar setting.
Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and products.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Ability to bend, stoop, climb and reach.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to us and manage a ladder to climb on roofs.
Good communications skills in working with vendors.
