COMMUNITY GARDEN - AT ST. ISIDORE
The collaborative garden was planted; we have a variety of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, beans and herbs and we are grateful to all who donated seedlings. A big thank you to all who helped prepare and plant the vegetable seedlings, you did a fantastic job and we could not have done this without your help. As we move through the growing season lots of help is still needed to maintain our new garden (weeding, harvesting, dropping off vegetables at local food pantries). If you would like to help out but have not yet signed up please call (978-897-2710) or email Robin in the office so we can get you on our volunteer list.
SERVICE TO LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES
Both St. Is
idore and St. Elizabeth parish communities support a number of ministries that aim to serve the material, physical and spiritual needs of people in our local area. These ministries are both a service to those in need and also a great way to get involved and share your gifts with the community.
The Organizations that we minister through serving and delivery food to are:
Cor Unum and Lazarus House, Lawrence Warm Hearts, Stow
Acton Food Pantry, Acton Acton Community Supper
CHRISTMAS GIVING TREES
Through the Giving Tree Ministry parishioners in our community are able to support the needs of over 700 individuals or families. Many organizations request gifts for children and families at Christmas while others collect gift cards and household items to be used throughout the year for families transitioning out of shelters. Trees in the entrance of each church are decorated with tags listing all the varied needs. Parishioners choose the tags with items they would like to purchase and return them on the specified date so that they can then be sorted and bagged for the organizations to pick up.
